Account deletion

Review the consequences before permanently deleting your account.

Account deletion permanently removes your sign-in access and deletes stored scientific files in the account's deletion scope. After deletion, the same email address cannot be used to create a new ProteinIQ account.

Warning

Download needed files and results before deleting your account. Deletion can affect jobs you submitted, files you uploaded, and workflows you created in shared workspaces, as well as data in workspaces you own. Preserve needed workflow definitions and tell collaborators before removing data they use.

Check deletion requirements

Open Settings > Account and select Delete account to see any blockers. Opening the dialog does not delete the account.

Resolve the listed conditions before confirming:

  • Owned shared workspace: A non-personal workspace you own still has other members. Remove those memberships only if the workspace is no longer needed by them. If it must remain shared, contact support before proceeding; the Members page has no ownership-transfer control.
  • Active billing: An owned workspace has an active, past-due, unpaid, or incomplete subscription. Resolve it through Settings > Billing.
  • Outstanding payment: An owned workspace has an unpaid invoice with an amount remaining.
  • Active workflow runs: Resolve running or paused runs in Workflows, then allow their jobs and billing to settle before deleting.
  • Billing check unavailable: Try again later or contact support if billing status cannot be verified.

Canceling renewal does not immediately end an active subscription. Wait until the paid period has ended before retrying deletion.

Delete your account

Once the eligibility checks pass:

  1. Open Settings > Account and select Delete account.
  2. Review the consequences in the dialog.
  3. Type the email address associated with your account.
  4. Select Delete account to confirm.

The confirmation email must match the account email. When deletion finishes, you lose sign-in access.

Data affected

Deletion removes stored scientific file contents from active storage and removes direct identifiers from retained records:

  • Sign-in account: Deleted, preventing further access.
  • Profile: Anonymized and marked deleted.
  • Research files: Job inputs, job outputs, workflow results, and uploaded files within the deletion scope are removed. This includes your submitted jobs and uploaded files in workspaces you do not own.
  • Workflow definitions: Definitions you created are cleared, including in other people's workspaces. Affected run definitions and stored inputs are also cleared.
  • Owned workspaces: Their records are anonymized and marked deleted as part of account deletion.
  • Operational records: Billing, audit, abuse-prevention, and aggregate usage records may remain without direct account identifiers.

Saving an output to a collection or file library does not create a backup outside this scope.

Delete only a workspace

Workspace deletion removes one eligible non-personal workspace while keeping your account. It requires the workspace owner's access and confirmation of the exact workspace name.

You cannot delete a personal workspace separately. Workspaces with active jobs, workflows, subscriptions, or unresolved payment states must resolve those conditions first.
